The AGRI3 fund aims to unlock USD 1bn of public and private finance towards deforestation-free, sustainable agriculture and land use.
The Fund was created by UN Environment Programme and Rabobank, together with partner IDH and supported by FMO, the Dutch entrepreneurial development bank. Cardano Development’s role in the fund is to act as an investment advisor along with FOUNT and Mirova.
AGRI3 will address three challenges:
- Prevent deforestation and stimulating reforestation
- Contribute to sustainable agriculture production
- Improve rural livelihoods
How does the fund work?
AGRI3 will provide local currency guarantees, to support commercial banks to provide loans in developing countries. The Fund bridges the gap between the needs of farmers and the limitations of banks by providing de-risking financial instruments and tailor-made technical assistance.
Together with Joost Zuidberg, Cardano Development CEO and Ivo Mulder UNEP Head of Climate Finance, this webinar discusses the structure of the fund and how we can better finance sustainable agriculture for the future.
